The Word is something very special to me: I believe that the Word creates the universe and through it we can reach every single person. I write because children are the future and when I write about them, I am actually writing about the future!
When asked the question to nearly 100 “grown-up children”, “What is your fondest childhood memory?”, 70% of the respondents said that the moments they cherish the most are when their mom, grandma or someone close to them read them children’s books. Create precious memories with your children today.
Children all over the world are alike because they need to be loved and to dream!
I weave dreams into tales. I like to tell them stories that make them smile. Light banter, sometimes invisibly implied, is a favorite device of mine that I’ve woven into every tale. My characters are colorful, fun, hilarious and do shenanigans, but always driven by the bright feelings of friendship and love. I am delighted when my children tell me they love going to bed with my stories because they fall asleep with a smile! And in that I find a special magic, a little ritual.

Love for literature
… writing children’s books is an expression of my love for words, literature and children. My love of literature and writing was sparked in elementary school when the spark of a beautifully told fairy tale story was ignited by my amazing teacher, Augusta Stancheva.
The stories I tell began to be recorded many years later. So far I have managed to publish three children’s books :
“Roshko and Zvezdycka. Journey to the North Pole”, “The Adventures of Terlilik the Bear”, “Tales from the Old Forest”, and many more stories are waiting, recorded only as a draft.

FIRST BULGARIAN BOOK FESTIVAL
In June 2019 in Brussels, I participated as a children’s author in the FESTIVAL OF THE BULGARIAN BOOK in , where I was lucky to meet many children living in Brussels. My book “TALES FROM THE OLD FOREST” was also the subject of a competition called “TELL ME A TALE” in which each child had to write a sequel to a story from the book or draw a picture. The best drawings and texts were awarded by Kalina Yaneva.

National Palace of Culture in Sofia
December 2023. In National Palace of Culture in Sofia. In the hall of the National Palace of Culture a theatrical production based on the author’s story was performed with a presentation by Kalina Yaneva and an interview. Children aged 4-9 were invited to watch and comment on their favourite excerpts from her fairy tales.
Rochester and Medway, May 2024
Draw a favourite character from the tales of Kalina Yaneva
May 2024 writing and drawing COMPETITION on Kalina Yaneva’s books in UK , city of Rochester and Medway. With the characters from “Tales from the Old Forest by Kalina Yaneva”.
In May 2024 in Rochester and Medway, UK, a competition was held among Bulgarian students on the theme: “Draw a favourite character from the tales of Kalina Yaneva”. Over 200 children drew and wrote on this theme , and the best ones received prizes from me for their wonderful drawings or interpretations of my children’s characters.
